We had an unforgettable experience at Shinzanso in Takayama. The private outdoor onsen with its stunning view of the river and woods was absolutely amazing. The dinner served was exceptional, especially the Hida Beef. The small lounge near the dining room was a nice touch for families, keeping kids occupied while parents enjoyed their meal. we highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The outdoor onsen was great and we were able to enjoy it while feeling the cool breeze of the mountains. The food was also delicious and offered a wide variety of dishes to choose from. the hiking trails nearby were a nice touch, and we had the opportunity to explore nature at its finest.
The location of the hotel was not the best for us, as it was a bit far from the city center and the view was hindered by concrete surroundings. The decor of the common areas felt a bit outdated, and it didn't quite match up to the romantic getaway we were seeking.

The location of this hotel was quite good, just a short walk from a popular attraction. the private outdoor hot spring was definitely the best part of my stay. It was very relaxing to soak in the warm water and enjoy the scenery around me. the food was also quite good with a nice variety of small dishes to try.
the pillows and blankets were not very comfortable and made it difficult to get a restful night's sleep.

I had a wonderful stay near the river bank in the open area. The hotel facilities were outstanding- the onsens were relaxing and scenic, especially the private baths that can be easily reserved. The traditional Japanese breakfast was great and well worth it. Furthermore, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating in arranging transportation. Lastly, the location close to amazing hikes in the mountains accessed by the cable car was a major plus.
I didn't dislike anything about the property.

Staying at this ryokan is an amazing experience. the location near the river bank is breathtaking where you can enjoy the open onsen while facing the woods, viewing the mountains or the river right next to it. the walk in thick snow, the private, indoor and outdoor onsens, including the food, staff and room are also great with a traditional touch.
The ryokan may be difficult to reach by public transportation, which can be bothersome if you plan to travel to the nearby areas.
